With construction having finished circa 1726, the Berkshire Estate is one of the oldest private residences in Silent Pines. Located on Old Pine Road, it has a long paved drive lined with trees and is flanked on the far side by a pool house and large outdoor pool. The former east wing of the estate has been converted into a modern garage.

Hightower Manor is located in one of the posher parts of Silent Pines’s historical neighborhoods, not far from either the Silent Pines High School or the Berkshire Estate. It is one of the largest and oldest homes in town. The manor stands three stories high, with a steeple on the west wing. Like many of the area’s older homes, the driveway is long and curves through a copse of trees past cobblestone gateposts. The brick front porch wraps around nearly three quarters of the house, and portions of the railings are still made of the original wood.

Hollinger House was built circa 1843 after a Hollinger son had a violent falling out with the family patriarch. Over time as other branches of the family tree faded out, it became the last Hollinger residence in Silent Pines. It boasts five bedrooms (including a full master suite), 3 baths, a modern kitchen, and a separate two car garage. Currently residing are Jeremy Hollinger (Accountant at M&B Accounting), Sandra Hollinger (Treasurer of the Silent Pines Historical Society) and their only child Julian.

The Whelan family established the first farmland in the area, taming a large section of the Devil’s Wood in order to live off the land. Originally known for their livestock and apples, they expanded into the Christmas tree business as well as mushroom farming around the turn of the 20th century.

Today, the Whelan farm is co-run by young Caleb Whelan and his father’s old business partner, Lucas Still.
