Silent Pines High School was built on the old Lanier family land some time after the grand residence burned to the ground in the late 19th century. Though the performing arts programs are suffering, test scores in academics have been the highest in the county three years running.
The high school band is reputed to be the worst in the county. This unfortunate reputation has even tainted the Orchestra and Choir classes despite both of those classes having superior skill sets.
The various sports teams compete as the Silent Pines Devils, and the school mascot is nicknamed Old Red.
