The Berkshire, Hightower, Hollinger, Polk, and Whelan families remain the oldest extant families in the town of Silent Pines, PA. Their lineages can be traced back to the 17th century at least, to a time when they settled the area and lived with unusual peace alongside the native peoples of Pennsylvania- up until the 1860’s, at which time the U.S. government relocated all but the native families who had assimilated into the settler’s culture.

The Berkshire family in particular has long been affluent. Wealthy merchants, they helped to fund much of the expansion of Silent Pines.

Likewise, other family traditions remain: While the Polk name suffered a fall from high society in the 18th century, descendants nonetheless carry on the duty of town sheriff which can be traced back to the Polks c. 1700.

The Founding Families have a long history of practicing witchcraft and other devil worship. Dr. Peter Franciscan of Pennsylvania State University reports in his article The Devil’s Woods: A History of Occultism in Silent Pines that even today the practice of black magic is still alive and well in our small town. Human and animal remains have been found in the woods by the Whelan property, along with Satanic symbols and evidence of ritual sacrifice.

Some claim that the old religious orders of Silent Pines were simply scientific free-thinkers with an “old boys club” mentality, but don’t be fooled. Each of the three orders can be aligned CONCLUSIVELY with a specific Satanic icon and specific demon.

The Cult of the Black Sun is actually a symbol aligned with Nazi occultists. Yes, you read that right! A corrupted sun wheel, it originates from a floor mosaic on a 17th-century Germanic castle. This burnt-out sun represents an opposing force (Satan) rising up to obliterate life and goodness (God). It is no wonder that this symbol is associated with the apparent highest order within the cults of Silent Pines. It is the symbol of Satan himself.

The Cult of the Triple Moon, of course, is easily recognized as a “wiccan” symbol… right? Wrong. This symbol relates to Hecate, the “Queen of Witches”, also known as LILITH. Lilith being the queen of Asmodeus and the mother of the Lillim, also known as succubi.

The Cult of the Sacred Star has a history that is less than sacred. Now, some may think that this cult’s symbol is the pentagram… but they would be wrong! The pentagram has five points, whereas this cult’s symbol has SIX. This is known as a hexagram, just like the Star of David, or otherwise as the Seal of Solomon. That’s right, the same Seal of Solomon that was worn by the demon Asmodeus for forty days in King Solomon’s stead.

Satan, Lilith, and Asmodeus. These demons are prominent forces of evil and are being invoked in our home town every day. What can we do about this? Well, let me tell you…

I’m not saying the Big Six are aliens, but that would explain a lot. Why would they seek out a confluence of ley lines, and how could they have survived such a long time in hostile territory unless they were assisted by advanced technology? According to my calculations, they would have starved during the first winter without a substantial amount of food supply- which is next to impossible, given that all of them were refugees who had next to nothing to their names.

The Lanier manor house burned to the ground on October 22, 1894. Clinton and Leila Lanier, the wealthy owners, perished in the fire. It’s likely that their children Lillian and Leo died with them, although the bodies were never recovered. Clinton and Leila were prominent members of society, taking part in local politics as well as paying for the funding of the town’s one-room schoolhouse. For this reason, the modern-day Silent Pines High School was built on the site of the old family home in their memory.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental, perhaps a candle flame catching the curtain of the family library- this being the source of the fire, according to analysis of forensic record.

Silent Pines was founded in 1694 by six families: the Berkshires, the Hightowers, the Laniers, the Whelans, the Hollingers, and the Polks (colloquially referred to as the “Big Six”). Each of these families left either Massachusetts or Connecticut in the wake of the Salem witch trials, fleeing persecution by their neighbors due to suspicion of witchcraft. Other families moved into the area over the next few decades, and a township was born.

These early settlers were, as rumor had it, practitioners of a strange religion which was purported to be adapted from that of the local Lenape Delaware tribe. Other stories report that the town’s founders practiced the very black magic which they were accused of in their previous towns. Historians have in fact found evidence of pagan customs and ceremonies during this period, such as the annual harvest festival (a different creature in those times than the community-run fair which exists today) and iconography on tombs in the historic Silent Pines Cemetery.

As outliers to the Christian faith, such traditions were practiced in a clandestine manner. Outsiders would not have been trusted, and the founding families today are either long-removed from such histories or particularly private. What this means for scholarly pursuits is that very little evidence remains beyond oral tradition. Most of these stories contain congruent elements, but differ wildly in interpretation and detail- unsurprising when it is the stuff of legends.

Consistently, these stories say that there are between three to six smaller sects within the scope of this underground pagan culture, and that these sects correspond with at least one of the founding families each. What varies is the nature of these sects; some speak of different religious cults within cults, while others report that they were all different branches of a single church. Still others claim that they were simply different philosophical ideologies in regards to the practice of so-called magic. And others believe that they were simply a specific incarnation of the Free Masons- or at least a similar clandestine, exclusive group- with each sect representing a different rank within the order.
It is claimed by a small but vocal minority that these sects are still active today, but this is undoubtedly the territory of small-town superstition. All evidence of these practices predates the 20th century at least, and several of the “Big Six” have fallen into a more meager role in town politics.

Violet Whelan, fourteen years of age, was killed this Sunday the 29th October, in the year of our lord 1894. Miss Whelan was found in the woods on her family land, her heart removed from her chest in a manner most violent. Police suspect animal savagery, but her brother Matthew Whelan insists that a murder has taken place.

“I know who it were,” claims Casper Gingrich, landowner and neighbor of the Whelan family. “But I won’t speak the devil’s name. We all know who it were, if ye ask me.”
